Self-Publishing

People often ask us why we decided to self-publish our books (well, mostly Ashley’s books). Ashley spent years refining her writing skills, learning about the craft and the industry, reading books galore, and typing away. She went to the ACFW conference, met a lot of wonderful people, and by the time she got home she had several talented agents interested in her work (and even a major publishing house!). She chose an agent, started the process of querying publishers, and somewhere along the lines she realized she didn’t want to publish her book through traditional houses.

After much consideration, we decided that we should try our hand at self-publishing. We had the knowledge, the design skills, and, well, why not, right?

Turns out … self-publishing has been such a success for us that we wouldn’t choose traditional publishing at this point even if offered a million dollar contract. There are pros and cons, and self-publishing isn’t for everyone, but if the pros outweigh the cons in your case … there is no money or amount of sales that could take away your desire to self-publish.
